So, ladies and gentleman, welcome to another 'shut the fuck up, Kat' journal entry. You guessed it, I have yet another plot! I figured I'd share it with you, since-- well, I'm kind of digging my characters.

So it takes place in modern-day Manhattan. Apparently, vampires exist and people semi-know semi-don't about them. It's a rumor going on (mostly in large cities) and is sort of basic knowledge to the public. Among these are just small groups of vampires who live together-- enough to, perhaps, make up the population of a very small town. Not many at all. Isis, a human woman, is on the way back from a staff meeting late at night and finds herself attacked and drained by a vampire. In the dark, she's not fully sure who it was or what occurred. When she wakes in a hospital with her brother, Jason, there, she makes up a copious lie about being attacked by a 'man with a stapler' to avoid further questioning. The story starts out with her questioning the marks on her neck in the mirror, and musing about what she knows about vampire literature in the case of if she will/will not become one.

Enter Joseph, the 400 year old Cajun vampire who frequently changes his name for fun and Nathaniel, a vampire of about 15 years (he's a young'in) with a rather sardonic outlook on life and a jaded personality. Since Nathan was the one who drained Isis, Joseph scolds him for draining her of more than 1/2 of her actual blood. This means that her body, itself, will sort of ' prep ' itself for the transformation into a vampire and, if she's not made into one, she'll simply die of a failed immune system. Aas punishment, Joseph forces awkward, unhappy Nathaniel to watch after Isis and, when the choice has to be made in about six months, to choose whether to turn her or not. It's a huge responsibility to sire another vampire, because that gives you a mental attachment for the other person and you essentially have to act as their parent.

Lastly, enter Erynn, a 16 year old human, half Chinese, half Irish girl with delusional aspirations of being a 'Slayer' after watching tremendous amounts of Buffy. Way too into the science of the undead (or, rather, how to end them), at the age of 13 Erynn takes her hand at 'slaying'. Of course, she waits until her mom goes to work the night shift and then changes into a pair of ripped jeans, a low-cut v-neck and some hi-tops ('Slayer gear', if you ask her). She's taken a few months to whittle a wooden spoon down to the form of a stake and, fully ready to 'go for it', goes out 'vampire hunting'. She comes across Draciel, a superfluous vamp who takes himself way too seriously and hangs out in a graveyard, waiting for those moronic teenagers who pretend to 'ghost hunt'. Joseph, on the way back from picking up a pizza, witnesses this as he walks just outside the cemetary. Never one to let a pretty girl get hurt, Joseph beats the snot out of Draciel and Erynn persists to briefly call Joseph 'Angel' when she notices his leather jacket. Joe helps her up, and offers to escort her home, wherein they realize they live directly next-door to each other. They've been buddies for three years (Erynn's always been pretty mature, and Joseph looks around 25 or 26) and Joseph has developed the slightest crush on her. She can't lie that she reciprocates it, too.

Characters (In depth.... we all know I characters)

Nathaniel (Nathan) Jericho Cambridge - A total of 45 years old (he was made a vampire at 30), Nathaniel is the last person you want to meet at a party. Nathan is 5'11" and has dark blue eyes, vaguely similar to a midnight blue color. His hair is a dark blonde color and is gradually getting longer. It's fairly wavy, so it all swoops toward the back if he combs it that way in elaborate layers. His bangs are longer than the rest of his hair, and refuse to comb backward. They stubbornly hang in front of his face. Nathan is awkward around humans-- well, he's mostly awkward around anyone. His jokes tend to be sarcastic, but he can get excitable if a subject sparks in his mind. Nathan is rather pessimistic toward life.... or death, to be technical. He takes things too lightly even when they're serious, and fails to connect or be attracted to anything at all, really. Nathaniel is English. Nathan tends to be compared to a heroin addict, more often than not. He's rather skinny, though he's not all that tall, and tends to have that calm kind of leer to his expression. Nathan is delicately pale, but if he feeds he's.... still pretty pale, just not as terrible.

Joseph Badeaux Audet (Name originally Andouilles, but he's been using several different ones for fun for years) - Joseph is a total of 435 years old (he was made a vampire at 24) and has learned to take life as it comes. Joseph is often fond of joking around and doesn't take very many things seriously, but he has a smart mentality for all things strategic. The only problem is that Joseph plans so far ahead that he neglects to think of the immediate present, and therefore loses track or grip of many situations. Joseph's original name was Andouilles, which he loves to joke about because the literal translation of it is 'Spicy Cajun Sausage' and that makes for a fun conversation piece. Joseph enjoys the company of mortals than most immortals because he feels everyone should just be equal, that it really doesn't matter how old you are. Joseph is easygoing and often says 'Yeah?' after most sentences in semi-Wakka-FF-X style. Joseph is Cajun. His hair is light brown, cut shorter toward the front, but gets longer to the back and naturally spikes a little. He's got a tiny, semi-grey soul patch just below his lower lip which is always carefully trimmed (he greyed at an earlier age). Joseph is generally the 'life of the party' type, but is a bit too much of a flirt and never has qualms to making a new friend. Joseph is 6'0" tall and broad-chested, slightly thick in the waist and fairly built across the shoulders. His complexion is a light pale, but he's got the reminiscence of a tan if he feeds.

Isis Nefer - Isis is a 26 year old human who once had dreams of being a writer, and has become so jaded with life itself that she gave up on that subject and went on to try her hand at psychology. Currently a guidance counselor who's rather satisfied with her life, Isis is fond of few things. Mostly sitcoms and her cat, Bangle. Isis has a pretty great capacity for compassion, since she's good at telling what other people think or how they feel. Isis is a tad tired of life, or jaded with it. Her mother died of a sudden brain tumor when she was 12 years old and her brother, Jason, was 16. Their father committed suicide about a week later. They were taken in by their uncle and aunt on their father's side, and the both of them still have trouble coping with what happened. At the age of 17 she attended college in Manhattan, living in an apartment with her 21 year old brother. Jason has always had a strong sense of duty to his sister and they always try to stick together. At 25, she moved out to be a guidance counselor downtown. Isis has dark-black, straight hair that falls just below her neck and her eyes are a light shade of warm, brown-ish gold. Her skin is dark, caramel color. Isis is 5'5" and is rather tiny, even for someone of average-tall height.

Erynn Fei Shaughnessy - Erynn is a 16 year old human who has simply watched far too many vampire-oriented films and read one too many Dracula books. A strict followed of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Erynn has wanted to be a 'Slayer' since she first watched the show. She's always had a knight-ish mentality and has, therefore, always longed to be a distributor of justice, so to speak. At 13, she whittled a wooden spoon down to a stake and donned a pair of ripped jeans, a low-cut v-neck polo and a pair of black hi-tops and vowed to defend the world from the undead. Erynn still clings to her 'Slayer' beliefs and, make no mistake, she is fairly strong (she took karate for 5 years and was considered a 'natural', from age 5 to age 10). She has a strong sense of what she considers right and wrong and always believed that the most important part of life is courage. Erynn lives with her mother, who works late often and tends to be temperamental on slight occasion. Erynn has a loving sense of humor and a very sweet disposition, but will not hesitate to fly off the handle if she feels it necessary. Erynn, however, does usually love to tease at someone else's expense. Erynn has always looked older than she really is (at 16, she looks more 18 or 19, easily) because she's tall for her age. Erynn is about 5'9" and has always had long, gangly limbs to go with her body type. Her eyes are almond-shaped and sheer dark brown, almost appearing jet black. Her hair is a dark brown with a slightly auburn tinge to it and has the smallest wave to it. She's very pale and rather smart, good at academics, mostly, but too lazy to really apply herself.
